San Lorenzo Park - King City, CA - Drew Zavala Photography - Location Spotlight

If one of my clients expresses interest in going to a park for their photo session, I always recommend San Lorenzo Park in King City. There are so many great park options in the area, but San Lorenzo Park is great for a lot of reasons. Here’s why you should consider it for your next photo session!

First off, this park is huge! There are 200 acres of recreational space, which means that there will be plenty of room for us to move around and make the most of our surroundings. The paths are easy to navigate and are perfect for family members of any accessibility level.

Having so much room also means that we won’t have to worry about potential photo-bombers! While this park can be popular during the summer, I’ve never had a problem with it being too crowded.

Sometimes, I like to use prompts to get some candid moments of movement between you and your loved ones. At San Lorenzo Park, we won’t have to worry about bumping into anyone or anything while you and your little ones run and play.

If your little ones are nervous about being photographed, parks like San Lorenzo are a great place to take them because it will give them a chance to do what they do best—be kids—in an environment that is familiar to them.

There is plenty of natural light, too. If the sun is too harsh on the day of our session, we will easily be able to find shade amongst the graceful trees or rustic buildings.

When you come to your session, be prepared for the entry fee. San Lorenzo Park charges $6 per car during the week and $8 during the weekend.

After your session, there’s plenty to do in the area. They have an agriculture museum with lots of old farm equipment, and the park also has plenty of camping and picnic spots.

If you want to make the most of your entry fee, spend the afternoon here! There’s plenty to do. They have playgrounds, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, a softball field, and plenty of hiking trails.

Ready to choose San Lorenzo Park for your photo session? I can’t wait to book with you! Let me know, and we can get the ball rolling.

Greenfield + Gonzales, CA - Drew Zavala Photography - Al + Mari

I had an absolute blast photographing Al + Mari, who just so happen to be my brother-in-law and his wife! And get this—I actually had the pleasure of photographing them for their engagement session five years ago. Talk about full circle!

As a photographer, I understand the importance of finding the perfect location for a shoot, which is why I went above and beyond to ensure that Al + Mari had a memorable experience.

We faced many challenges, including harsh lighting and finding the right backdrop, but we persevered and found a smaller patch of blooming wildflowers that provided the perfect setting.

During the photo session, we visited three different locations that allowed us to capture a variety of stunning images. The first location was Arroyo Seco Road in Greenfield, CA, a remote and rural area that provided a unique and natural setting.

From there, we moved on to an empty lot in the middle of Greenfield. Initially, Al was a bit uneasy since it was a high-traffic residential area, and he was worried about being seen. In real life, it didn’t look like much of a spot, but as a photographer, I’ve developed the ability to see thing differently than other people.

Although the tall grass seemed sketchy, Al + Mari trusted my vision, and we created some of the most beautiful images of the day. As a photographer, I’ve developed the ability to see thing differently than other people, so trust me when I say your photographer knows best!

Our final location was off River Road in Gonzales, CA, where we faced cold and windy weather conditions. You need a keen eye to spot this location, or you’ll miss it. It was all worth it in the end. The flowers and lighting were perfect!

Al + Mari's love for each other was so strong throughout the shoot, and it made my job a joy. I believe that the key to creating beautiful and authentic images is to establish a connection with my clients. During our shoot, we laughed and shared stories, which helped to break the ice and create a relaxed and comfortable environment.

If you're looking for a photographer who will go above and beyond to capture your special moments, then look no further. Don't hesitate to contact me for your engagement or portrait session, and let's create some beautiful memories!

San Lorenzo Park - King City, CA - Drew Zavala Photography - Chavez Family

My first photoshoot of the year was a huge success! We went to San Lorenzo Park in King City, CA. This park is absolutely stunning! The Chavez family went above and beyond, and we all had a blast!

This session was extra special for Roxanna and I, because we used to go to school together back in the day. It was great to catch up with her and her family as we snapped away.

I was so impressed with the deep connection between each of the family members. This family prioritizes each other, and it shows. The kids behaved so well, reflecting on the fantastic parenting of their mom and dad. This made our session 100% easier.

Everyone was also so enthusiastic about being in front of the camera. There were no dragging feet here! The kids in particular had laughter in their eyes and contagious smiles, and the way the children interacted with their parents was just heartwarming.

It was a tad windy out on the day of the shoot, so sometimes hair and wardrobe were at the mercy of the breeze, but it added a unique touch of movement to the photos.

Since our session happened on New Years Day, the family was exhausted. I totally understood the feeling. That said, the fresh air did everyone so much good, and soon, we were all enjoying ourselves.

Roxanna did an amazing job color coordinating their outfits. She was spot on! Dressed in complementary blues and peaches, the family accessorized with cowboy hats and boots. The detail brought so much life to the photos!

It was an honor to capture the essence of their family through my lens. Their gallery is a perfect blend of natural and posed shots, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

I had such a wonderful time working with the Chavez family and I cannot thank them enough for allowing me to capture these special moments for them. I am so grateful for the opportunity to relive our childhood memories together and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this amazing family.

To the Chavez family, thank you for a fantastic photoshoot! I hope you all enjoy the memories that were captured here at San Lorenzo Park, and that these images bring joy to your lives for many years to come.
